A few years after Netflix cancelled “Daredevil” spinoff series “The Punisher,” THR reports today that Jon Bernthal will soon be reprising the role of Frank Castle/The Punisher!
Jon Bernthal is back as The Punisher in Marvel’s upcoming reboot series “Daredevil: Born Again,” which will also mark the return of Charlie Cox as Daredevil.
Vincent D’Onofrio will also be back as Wilson Fisk, we recently learned.
“Daredevil: Born Again” is said to be an 18-episode series for Disney+. From Matt Corman and Chris Ord, the Marvel series is expected to premiere sometime in 2024.
THR details, “Born Again takes its title from a landmark Daredevil storyline published in 1986, written by Frank Miller and drawn by David Mazzuchelli. The show is deviating from that plot, although by how much is unclear. The Punisher, for example, made no appearance in the comic story. Daredevil versus Wilson Fisk, aka the Kingpin, remains the focal point.”
Netflix was of course formerly the home of the “Daredevil” and “The Punisher” TV shows, and it sounds like Marvel is cherry-picking fan favorite elements to bring over to Disney+.
