Holy cow. It’s already March. Where does the time go? Never mind that. A new month means a new lineup of genre offerings from streaming giant Netflix. Because we care and because we want to make life just a little easier for you, we have sorted through what’s hitting the platform this month and break it down to what we think may be of interest to our readers (IE: horror and true crime offerings).

The full list is available at the bottom of this post. But first, we are turning the spotlight on five upcoming additions we’re particularly excited for. If you’re solely searching for the full rundown, jump to the bottom of this post.

The Riddick Trilogy

We are pleased to report that the entire Riddick trilogy is coming to Netflix! The films, which take place in the very distant future, see Vin Diesel playing the titular character. The franchise is a mixture of sci-fi, action, and horror. Riddick is a multifaceted character that isn’t entirely good or entirely evil. He is a convicted criminal with surgically modified eyes that allow him to see in the dark. Riddick serves as the hero/antihero of the series.

The franchise has grossed more than $250 million at the global box office to date. If you haven’t had the occasion to take in all the series installments, you will have the chance to do just that on March 16th.

MH370: The Plane That Disappeared

This docuseries (which drops on Netflix on March 8th) will delve into Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. For anyone not familiar, the aircraft inexplicably disappeared on March 8, 2014, while en route from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to Beijing Capital International Airport.

This three-part series will offer speculation regarding what may have caused the disappearance that left 227 passengers and 12 crew members unaccounted for (to this day).

The events surrounding this doc are unspeakably tragic. But the story is undeniably fascinating.

Copycat Killer

Adapted from the novel Mohou-han by Miyuki Miyabe, Copycat Killer tells the story of Taipei’s first serial killer. Intrigued by the news coverage his crimes have garnered, the killer begins using the media to control the narrative.

The events that unfold will be presented from the perspective of a prosecutor (played by Wu Kang-ren) working to solve the case.

The premise sounds promising. And the trailer and limited details that have been made available seem to suggest Copycat Killer will be a twisty and unpredictable ride. But don’t take my word for it; the series is slated to drop on Netflix on March 31st.

Waco: American Apocalypse

This three-part documentary series comes along 30 years after the tragedy that occurred in Waco, Texas, circa 1993. The show is scheduled to bow on Netflix on March 22nd. The doc will feature news footage, FBI recordings, and exclusive interviews with surviving members of the Branch Davidians and FBI personnel.

The docuseries promises to feature new details about the case that haven’t previously been revealed.

Monique Olivier: Accessory to Evil

This true crime docuseries will chronicle the crimes of French serial killer Michel Fourniret. But the focus of the program will be on Fourniret’s wife, Monique Olivier, who is currently serving a life sentence. The doc will attempt to piece together whether Olivier was a victim of the ordeal or a willing participant.

If you’re keen to check out this docuseries, it is scheduled to hit the streamer on March 2nd.
