The action thriller Hypnotic is the next movie directed by Robert Rodriguez, and according to a report from Deadline today, it will hit theaters in May after having its world premiere at SXSW.
Hypnotic, starring Ben Affleck, will be shown on 2,000 screens across the country according to Ketchup Entertainment. The movie will be released on May 12, 2023.
“The imminent release for a movie that remains incomplete is another talking point in the project’s tortuous road to the screen,” Deadline writes in their analysis.
“I’ve been working on this film for many years now, and to see the reaction from my hometown audience at SXSW was humbling and gratifying,” Rodriguez said in a statement. I’m excited to show it to everyone who enjoys movies and wants to go on a wild adventure with lots of surprises.

“While looking into a series of impossibly difficult high-end heists, a detective finds himself enmeshed in a mystery involving his missing daughter and a top-secret government operation.”
Hypnotic was co-written by Rodriguez and Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island).
