The Scariest Things has partnered up with our East Coast sister podcast, the Jersey Ghouls, hosted by Marissa Pona and Jacki Giorgiani, who shares with us a love for a good bracket fight. Every March, the Jersey Ghouls does an NCAA March Madness-like tournament of 32 movies of a given genre. If that sounds somewhat familiar, we have done a bracket fight a couple of times at The Scariest Things, most notably for our 100th Episode, where we had the greatest horror movie of all time 64 movie bracket.
The Jersey Ghouls are a total blast to do podcasting with, and we found a natural banter, that if you like our style, we think you will really get into their fun antics as well. If anything, they might be livelier than we are, and bring huge energy to their presentations.
If you haven’t gotten a chance to listen to our Spooky Time Episode 5, go give it a watch before listening to this podcast, as I do a bit of a preview of the bracket they sent us, and it will be interesting to see how it plays out. The pairings were VERY different than I was expecting, and it was terrific! Jacki and Marissa like to do a deep dive into each movie before we make our picks, so you’ll get to hear us muse over the selections.
This first Episode covers the first sixteen contests. There will be a second Episode to go through the Sweet 16, Elite 8, Final 4, and Championship matches. So exciting! What Zombie movie will chew through its competition? You’ll have to listen in. And now that we’re best friends with the Jersey Ghouls, perhaps they will feed us some additional food scraps and let us out of the basement! Liz and I promise to behave!
The NCAA tournament is also known as THE BIG DANCE, though it does become something of a musical chairs game as the contestants get eliminated one by one. So, get your old moldy zombie boots on, and get ready to do some Michael Jackson-style Thriller Dancing, because it’s March Madness time! Let’s Dance!
