Who doesn’t love a giant monster movie? Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, the alien from Cloverfield, the bigger the better in our opinion. Now, from Dread and director Lee Thongkham comes a new kaiju in the new film The Lake. We’ve got a sneak peek at the monster mayhem in an exclusive clip.

Read the full synopsis for The Lake below:

When a mysterious monster emerges from the Mekong River, the northern province of Bueng Kan, Thailand, is suddenly cut off from the outside world. Officials, scientists, and local citizens must mobilize to stop the rampaging Kaiju before it’s too late and the whole town is destroyed. But this monster may not be alone after all…

The Lake‘s monster design was done by Hollywood special effects wizard Jordu Schell, whose work you’ve seen in films like The Mist and Hellboy (2003). For The Lake, his team crafted the monster using both life-sized practical animatronics and CGI.

A Thai-Chinese co-production, The Lake is a Hollywood Thailand film and produced by Watson Boy Homsangpradit. Patrick Ewald serves as executive producer.

The Lake comes to digital and VOD on March 14, 2023.
