Police arrested a man who attacked a woman in a business, after tracking and chasing him as he fled on foot through the Green Lake neighborhood.

At approximately 11:45 a.m., police responded to a business near North 56th Street and Kirkwood Place North for reports of an assault. An employee reported a suspect entered a restricted area of the business and punched her and groped her. The victim fought with the man and he fled on foot.

Police converged on the area and began looking for the suspect. With the help of several citizens who flagged down police to report a suspicious person, and after a brief foot chase, officers arrested the suspect in the 7200 block of 8th Avenue Northeast.

Officers booked the 25-year-old man into King County Jail for burglary and indecent liberties (sexual contact by forcible compulsion). Additionally, police booked the man for a warrant from a previous incident, which was also for burglary and attempted indecent liberties.

Detectives with SPD’s Sexual Assault Unit will continue to investigate this incident.
